Lydia has been creating for as long as she can remember. Over the years, her mediums have varied; though, the past handful of years have shone a new path on her creative outlook.

The stumbling into (and wandering out of)
the pandemic, the deaths of both her father and her grandmother, and the general unrest of the world led her to explore alcohol inks. The dichotomy of being in control while also letting go of control made this medium appealing to Lydia. She found the years she spent struggling most with her mental health, expressing the darkness that seemed to bubble up through fluid painting spoke light back into her life.

Inspired by words, wonder, and the world around her, she creates art that looks honestly at the complexities of emotional range. Lydia seeks to express the full experience of her humanness and hopes others relate to her journey (sometimes shrouded in darkness and other times blindingly illuminated). She paints in beautiful Bloomington, Indiana, and shares her home with her husband, two daughters, and elderly cat.
